Tanganyikan cichlids? Empty Tanganyikan cichlids?

Wow, not one post in the African Cichlid section... doesn't anyone keep Africans around Central Illinois?

Tanganyikans are my favorites and I've kept most of them at one point or another, but I'm starting to branch out... anyway, just posting to see if anyone around Peoria has Tanganyikans Very Happy .

I have some red top hongs and some neolamprologas bricardi. I would love to get a breeding pair of neolamprologas bricardi. There are some neolamprologas bricardi on the GCCA cswap meet site. I will probably go to the swap on 9/30.
I have picked up a lot of africans up there, in the past.

Ok, so there are a few people. Very Happy

I'm used to the Minneapolis crowd, and they are pretty heavy on Africans. New worlds too, but there seems to be some pretty cool and rare Africans up there.

What would you guys say the most popular type of fish is down here? I'm always looking at trying something new if there are some experts around that can share some knowledge.

Twocat, you should be able to find a pair of Brichardi fairly easily I would think, but then again, I'm new down here. I just picked up a pair of Neolamprologus Sovoryi about a month ago (a brichardi type). Well, I say "pair", I don't know for sure what there sexes are as they haven't spawned yet (or killed each other!). What type of Brichardi are you looking for?

adowns99, I don't keep angels myself, but I've been to Chuck Hawks house a few times in Minneapolis and have a new found respect for them after seeing his!

I may have to get a few again, I haven't had any since I was a kid.

We keep shellies and a few odds and ends. Tropheus bemba that bred recently. Lots of haps and mbuna. One giant polleni madagascar cichlid. An electric cat named "Zap Branigan" or "Mr. Zappy" who likes the culls. Very Happy

Tanganyikan cichlids? Empty Tanganyikans

I have a 55 gallon one species with Juliechromis marlieris. It also has some giant danios and autralian ranibows as dithers. It is now a multi-generational tanks with the original 6 approaching full size of about 4-5 inches.
