what is it?
I got a bunch of plants from Gina (so maybe Gina will know the answer to my question) at the last meeting. among the plants were 2 kinds of
water sprite, water lettuce, anachris and a little moneywort. today when i was working in my tank i found something interesting. It has small rounded sort of kidney shaped leaves about the size of the cross section of the end of my little finger ( a bit larger than the width of an average pencil end)
the leaves are attached to fine thread like stems and radiate from a single small bump which seems like a very small rhizome. it has about 5 leaves and has sent out a runner which has formed a new plant. it appears a rhizome formed at the end of the runner and the stem and leaf formed from that... so far the new offshoot has only one leaf. there are roots growing from both rhizomes, the "mother" and the offshoot. They have smooth leaves with very plump cells notable from the underside. It would be nice to have a bunch of them but i want to be able to put a name to them! if anybody can help, i'd surely appreciate it. I'll try to get a photo and post if my lack of technical know how doesn't stand in the way. thanks
