Keep it well planted so the fry have hiding places.

Tips/Help In Breeding A Guppy Farm Empty breeding trap

Post  randywoowoo Fri Jan 06, 2012 11:54 pm

I have a 30 gal devoted to guppies. It is heavily planted but the fry seem to still get eaten by my giant females. I recently purchased a breeder trap and have around 12 fry currently residing there. Hopefully many more soon. I would strongly suggest getting 1 or 2 of these. It is the only way I can keep my fry from becoming dinner.

I like those net ones for fry. Keeps them safe, are decent size for them to swim around in and let water flow through them.

When my female looks like she is ready I put her in a fal glass jar with a plastic plant in it and then when she has her babies I take her out and leave the babies for a couple of weeks until they are a little bigger. I float the jar in the same tank with my other fish.

I get most of my supplies from Pet Mountain.

Here is the link for the net breeders: http://www.petmountain.com/product/fish-breeding-tanks/11442-501439/marina-fine-mesh-fish-net-breeder.html

I get a few adult guppies from this 10 gallon for every local club auction. the key is the huge clump of java moss.
