I would like to learn about breeding bristlenose pleco's. I think that would be a good topic if someone has done before.

Topics for the next three meetings Empty live food cultures

Post  jikin junkie Thu May 29, 2014 10:23 pm

I meant that we have had a food culture meeting before but this time if someone could show us how to culture fruit flies. I've got the microworms down and no problems with brine shrimp.

I could do that as I did them for a while, but it wouldnt take long as it's pretty simple. About like microworms actually except you have to put something in there to let them get out of the mixture.  Not sure what we would all do with the other 50 minutes of the hour.  :-(

Topics for the next three meetings Empty I can help with fruit fly culturing topic

Post  Katnapper Fri May 30, 2014 11:18 pm

I could help with the fruit fly culture topic and bring hands-on materials to start your own cultures. I just need to find all my stuff down in the basement in the storage section (large, but only 4 ft. high, so you have to bend over or crouch) where my son and his friends crammed all my stuff (no paths, just jammed it all in there) to make room so they could use the unfinished portion of the basement as their own private skateboard park this past winter.

I was even considering hosting the meeting (so I wouldn't have to drag all the stuff somewhere else). But I'd need to do some cleaning/organizing of an embarrassing jumbled mess to make room for us in the dining room at the table... or I guess we could have it out on the back deck... it's clean! Or I can bring the stuff to wherever... it wouldn't be that much trouble.

Cans, can, or can't?  Lol

I'm willing to host... just let me know.  But don't expect Martha Stewart clean.  I just have other things I'd rather be doing.  Topics for the next three meetings CoveringEyes

Martha Stewart clean?  scratch   She has staff to do that...lol.  On a side note, there is a local pond club.  I think their members might be interested in this forum.  I'm surprised we haven't seen any cross over cuz they keep fish in their ponds.  It would be a source of info for them, I'm gonna join and tell them. Their meeting in July will be about photographing ponds...lol.   cheers

This mths topic will be fruit flies, Katnapper could we have this at your house or is this too short of a notice?

Sorry, I checked the web site but I was not logged in so it did not look like there were any new post.

I would also like to bring up at the next meeting the question of --Is it time for a new leader?

I am fine with continuing to do this but if anyone else wants to take over that is fine.
There are some shortfalls with me and my style and we can not seem to grow with me in charge.

Topics for the next three meetings Empty 2807 Scarborough St., Bloomington - In Pepper Ridge subdivision

Post  Katnapper Tue Jun 03, 2014 11:16 am

Yes, I can host the June 8th meeting at 2:00 p.m.  2807 Scarborough St., Bloomington - In Pepper Ridge subdivision off of Fox Creek Road.  My house has a  basketball hoop in the driveway and cat statues on the porch.  I do have 3 indoor cats (in case anyone is allergic), but we may have the meeting out on the back deck anyway.

I bought a fruit fly culture (flightless D. melanogaster) at Petco.  I'm going to make up some cultures today, in addition to some Sunday in the demonstration, that those who want can take home with them.  Can those who know they are planning to come please respond here so I can get an estimate on numbers of cultures, materials, and space/chairs?  I'll also be giving away some supplies to make new cultures, and some other miscellaneous materials that might be useful if anyone wants them.

David, can you bring the flyers and cards?  I can finish printing them if needed.
