Angel fish spawn Empty Angel fish spawn

My angelfish spawned, first spawn they had. Problem is they are in a heavily stocked community tank and the dummies laid their eggs on the back glass instead of a large leaf. Is there a way I can scrape the eggs of the glass and hatch them out myself or just wait until the wriggler stage? That's if they don't panic and eat them. confused

I scrape the eggs off the glass when the corries spawn, but I'm not sure if you can do that with angels or not.

One way to find out.......

Angel fish spawn Empty Eggs

Post  jikin junkie Tue Jan 21, 2014 11:48 pm

I'm not that brave, I think I'll leave them to their own devices. I also have another pair in that tank starting to put down eggs...lol. Must be something in the water! Razz

Congrats on the spawning... "something in the water" lol.

I knew I'd seen some info about scraping the eggs from the glass a while back when I was researching angelfish breeding.  Here's one how-to including pics if you still want to check it out.

Alternately, can you "wall off" the parents and eggs in the section where they are to protect from the rest of the tank members?

Of course if they're still viable....

Thanks for the link katnapper, it's a good one! Maybe the next spawn I'll try hatching them myself. I posted pics of the parents and their eggs in the gallery.

Angel fish spawn Empty two angelfish spawns!

Post  jikin junkie Thu Jan 23, 2014 10:35 pm

Another paired up and spawned further down the glass, the first pairs eggs are mostly gone. Then I saw my swordtails raid the eggs of the first pair and the male from the second pair came over, big battle, then devoured the remaining. Wow. I need to move a pair to their own tank. I don't have enough tanks space yet.  Rolling Eyes

Angel fish spawn Empty Angel fish eggs

Two spawns from my Angel fish. David got the first batch of eggs to hatch out, Mark got the second batch. If I get my fish moved in time, I may try hatching out some myself. Make some room Becky! Razz

I had about 30-40% hatch, free swimming now.

I feed them microworms in the morning and BBS at night.

Mark,

I got the eggs from Gina. Mine have yet to pair off, but the two big black ones kind ones look like they are thinking about it.
